Hit and miss prospecting is the "achilles heel" of most network marketers who use the offline methods of lead generation. It's been a problem almost since day one in the industryand the resultant effect has been rejection and a big attrition rate.

It's a major problem in the industry and the main reason why there is a large fallout rate. Too many network marketers use haphazard techniques to attract MLM Leads. In fact, it should n't even be referred to as techniques in most instances.

The old school methods of network marketing lead generation are well know - everyone is a prospect from family, friends to occasional accquaintances. This is not a very productive or targeted way of attracting people to your business or more importantly, it's unprofessional in a business sense.

Before you even approach anyone you need to consider several factors which when put into practice, will not only attract the right people to you but in the main, they are happy to be seeking you out.

No more gut-wrenching feelings about whether someone will tell you to get the heck out of their face or going to a social gathering and looking at everyone as a prospect for your business.

As a network marketer, you need to see yourself as a solutions provider. But not everyone is in need of the solution you're providing. That's what makes the above old school methods so flawed.

Instead, you need to put yourself in front of the right target market. Before you do, here are three things you need to establish before you commence any promotions to attract MLM leads.

1. First you need to identify your target market. These will be people looking for a home based business or work at home opportunity.

2. Once you establish this, your next step is to find out what they want, what they need, what they are talking about - you need to get inside their minds in a sense.

3. This is vital - find out what problems they are experiencing. Do they have financial issues? Are they looking to spend more time with their family or do they simply want to get out of the 9-5 rat race?

4. Once you have done this, then you need to break down this list into categories. Are they baby boomers? Are they people in their thirties or are they young family members trying to create some extra cash flow to help with the mortgage or car payments?

The more you know about your target audience the easier it will be for you to convert your MLM leads into business associates.
